The Golden Gate Bridge is a symbol of hope and dreams, the gateway for many Asians immigrating to the United States. It is also the site of many suicides. There is something special about exiting the world at such a scenic and photogenic location. Cruel as it sounds, my first thought was having seven-year-old Vera witness her father’s suicide while hugging her teddy bear. 2. What was your favorite part of writing this book?
