Guest Post: Secrets of the Sky with Jaye Shields
Please welcome Jaye Shields to my blog:
An Obsession with Flying
Hey there, I’m Jaye Shields. My latest book in the Immortals in Alameda series, Secrets of the Sky, is centered around one of my favorite characters, Sparrow Reed. If you don’t know already (and haven’t read Secrets of the Fog) Sparrow has a back full of tattoos. Each tattoo is of a bird because her family (a coven of wiccans) gifted her with an enchantment when she was born with the ability to take the form of any bird tattoo she accrues. Her very first came upon her birth, a magical marking of a Sparrow, which was how she got her name.
Sparrow loves to fly and so do I. I thought I’d share a little bit of what we have in common. Well, first of all, I’ll admit that as of this moment, I have zero tattoos. It’s just never worked out. What we do have in common, is that I spend hours flying. I cut through the clouds and smile down upon bright blue lakes and snow-capped mountains. The only difference between Sparrow and I is our wings. While she may have feathers, I have props and feather-light metal. That’s right, I’m a flight attendant.
All my life I’d wanted two things; to be a published author and write about incredible adventures and romantic happily ever afters, and to be a flight attendant. I grew up obsessed with the industry since my aunt was a flight attendant and my uncle was an airline captain. Like Sparrow, I’m a people person. I love traveling, but also, I love inviting people to my party. My plane is my realm and I control weather people leave happy or not. I may not have magic within me like Sparrow, but I do believe a smile works wonders, and I love leaving people enchanted when they leave my plane.
So the next time you fly. Think of me, and think of Sparrow.
And tell the person sitting next to you on the plane to buy our story! J
XOXO Jaye
P.S. The first passenger to ask for my autograph instead of a pillow gets a kiss.

Thank you so much for hosting! Great post!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I have to say that I related to Sparrow similarly since I love to fly! It's the most amazing feeling in the world to soar above the earth amidst the clouds, break into the open and experience the light of the sun, the blue sky, and the earth far beneath. Fly Jaye Fly! : )
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a pegasus!
